FULL-DAY ART WORKSHOP WITH CLAIRE BOTTERILL

Come along and have fun trying Claire’s unique style of painting in ink, wax and watercolour. Paper, pens and wax crayons provided just bring your watercolours, brushes and your enthusiasm. There will be an initial exercise to introduce you to the technique step by step with an illustrated worksheet provided. “Fuzzy sheep” learn how to paint this image of Claire’s ready for the spring lamb season. This image is from Claire’s Farmyard collection of signed limited edition giclee prints. You are very welcome to bring your own subject to work from.

Paper, pens and wax crayons provided just bring your watercolours, brushes and your enthusiasm. Claire will guide you step by step drawing apples from life and getting the form and shine of the fruit. You are very welcome to bring your own subject to work from. Beginners and improvers are very welcome.

Held at the former Art Studio, New Century Way & Art Alert Gallery, Abbey Street, Nuneaton. Cost was £18. People came along and had fun trying Claire’s unique style of painting in ink, wax and watercolour. Paper, pens and wax crayons were provided - participants brought their watercolours, brushes and their enthusiasm. There was an initial exercise to introduce people to the technique step by step with an illustrated worksheet provided. They then had a go at a simplified version of Claire’s painting, or their own choice of subject.

Pottery Course

POTTERY COURSE
2014 Wednesday 10th Sept – 1st Oct, 7pm-9pm

was held at the Art Alert Gallery, 23a Abbey Street, Nuneaton, 
(next to the co-op Arcade)

Classes suitable for all levels of pottery experience.
Beginners welcome. £40 for 4 weeks inclusive of all materials, equipment and firings.
Techniques taught: pinch pots, slab pots, coil pots, sculpture, glazing.
The course ran Wednesday from 10th September to 1st October, 7pm-9pm.
There was an option to continue for a further 4 weeks for an additional £40.

Poetry in Performance Workshops

POETRY IN PERFORMANCE WORKSHOPS
Saturday 12th July until 12th August 2014 (2pm-4pm)


Starting at Nuneaton Library on Saturday 12th July, 2pm - 4pm. These workshops were offered as part of a new Warwickshire Libraries project called Warwickshire Poetry Voices.

Workshops were free to attend, and no previous experience was necessary. Anyone invited if interested in poetry, performance, voice, literature, and sound or just interested in trying something new.

Godiva's Visit to Nuneaton

GODIVA'S VISIT TO NUNEATON
Saturday 5th July 2014

 

Godiva met the Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth and the people in the town centre as part of the Nuneaton Lives celebration of local heroes George Eliot and Reginald Stanley. She arrived aboard her amazing Cyclopedia, Godiva celebrated for the first time the arrival of the Hummingbird a free flying mechanical bird created by the engineers and artists who created Godiva.

Creative Writing Workshop with Jayne Allen

CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP WITH JAYNE ALLEN
7pm-9pm Wed 2nd July for 10 weeks until 3rd September
At the Art Studio, New Century Way, Nuneaton, CV11 5NE (Next to the Co-op Bank, Co-Op Car Park)

The workshop provided ideas of how to create a story of your very own.  There was a competition for the finished short story and gave an insight into the literary world of books.  It focused on writing and thinking about aspects of writing manuscripts.  Must be 16 years old or over. Materials needed; a folder, pens and paper/note pad.

£7 per 2hr session, but £60 for all ten sessions if paid in full on the first session.

ART ALERT GALLERY CELEBRATION MORNING was held at the Art Alert Gallery 23e Abbey Street, Nuneaton between 10am and 12am on Friday 21 February 2014.  Art Alert invited all to be among the first to browse through our fabulous collection of original art & craft work created by local artists.  You could meet the artists and hear more about the project. Or drop by and chat to the volunteer artists on any open day, Wed, Fri, Sat from 10am-4pm.
